It
was the last day of November, and the last day of the autumn season –
atleast on the calendar – and Bhavan had just finished building a
second floor on his house because, after Beates visit to him last
month, he wanted to have a jacuzzi... but had no good place to put
it..
It wouldn't fit in his tiny bathroom, so the solution was
obvious... build a new floor with a new bathroom just for the jacuzzi
and an additional spare room, unfurnished and unpainted, that could
be used as a bedroom or extra living room or..whatever should prove
to be necessary some time in the future...
The
town council had been nagging him to visit them at the town hall to
pick up an honour trophy for having saved the lives of two sims as
far back as during summer of last year (!), but Bhavan, not caring
much for fame and attention had always postponed going there to pick
it up..
..until
he received a letter earlier this week that if he didn't pick it up
by the end of the month, it would be destroyed.. Even if he didn't
care to much for trophies, (ok, maybe just a little..) it would've
been a shame for that to happen, so he might as well just head over
there and pick it up before going to work...
-----
Being a fire fighter appears pretty relaxed most of the time, especially when you can spend your workday only talking about your job instead of actually doing anything.. as Bhavans coworkers appeared to do while he was doing the necessary maintenance on the fire truck..
..but Bhavan need not worry, because there will be more than enough of opportunities to do nothing worthwile and socialize (read: be pestered by) your coworkers too after all the necessary work is done..
Bhavan
loves his job as a fire fighter, but to many people makes him
uncomfortable, so he walks back upstairs to finish the job of
upgrading the toilet and get some alone time inside the toilet stall
upstairs...
It better not be a false alarm this time, but every time the bell rings it has to be taken seriously, because it could actually be an emergency...
Superman may have used a phone booth, but all our hero needs is a toilet stall! ;)
There's
an emergency over at the military base, and there's no time to waste
or use to drive carefully around the corners!
A 120 mm mortar round had exploded during an inspection by technical personnel, causing a fire that threatened to blow up the entire military base should it spread to the nearby weapons storage! If Bhavan didn't succeed in aiding the military in putting out this fire, there would be no more military base in town for a while....
This required swift and focused action to avert the terrible disaster about to happen! The fire had in the meantime managed to spread to the equipment and clothes depot setting all of their uniforms and stars and stripes on fire! Bhavan had to let uniforms be uniforms for a while as he focused on controlling the fire near the source (and right next to the weapons depot!), before putting out the fire in what was left of the uniforms..
Time to return safely to the fire station for a debriefing.. of course a paparazzi had already managed to sniff out that something had been burning and was already running as fast as she could to the fire station hoping to get pictures and an interview with the local hero...
The military base would later issue a public press release where they claimed the incident was due to a flock of llamas that somehow had made it into their building and started wreaking havoc.... an explanation nobody really believed, but atleast they tried...
The
paparazzi gazed after Bhavan as he walked by, but Bhavan was to busy
– and absolutely not intereted – in talking to her. It was much
more important for him to head upstairs and take a shower to wash of
all the sweat and soot from the fire...
"Stupid paparazzi.. why won't she listen to me? Why won't anyone listen to me? I'm important too...."
After getting a good long warm shower and talking about the weather with Ali who just happened to follow him there, Bhavan called up his girlfriend to take her out on a date to "Dafooney! Wahey!", the local jazz club, because he knew it was her favourite place in town..
Time to change into something a little fancier and head there quickly. ;)
The jazz club wasn't to far away from the fire station, it was just diagonally across the street, seen in the background here from Sofia and Bjørg who had gone out in the yard to throw ball again..
The club was pretty crowded for a thursday night. It looked like this was the place to be for everyone, except Bhavan.. it was a little to crowded for him, so he chose to wait outside on the sidewalk for Beate to arrive..
There
was noone on the poster to provide entertainment for the night, but
it was a jazz club and Bhavans sister Nitya had gone there to get
some feedback from the crowd on her guitar playing. Even Kajsa
Tangstad, the drummer from 'The Bushweeds' had jazzed herself up for
the night to spend some time there, listening to music, having a few
drinks and conversing about avant garde music and art that
wasn't directly made to appeal to the masses...
Of course Bhavan didn't get to spend his time outside waiting alone as there were a few that spotted his presence from inside, such as Sol Skurchk, who wanted to approach him to share some gossip..
Beate hadn't yet heard the news about the latest incident at the military base, but was still fascinated by his job as a fire fighter..
She enthuses about it with him for a while before she quickly has to dart off to find the nearest bathroom. Bhavan, who isn't to keen on hanging out in the bar downstairs with all the other people, tells her to meet him afterwards in the bar upstairs where it, hopefully, will be a little quieter...
He
could breathe easily, because there wasn't a single soul up there
except the bartender. Luckily this wasn't one of the jazz nights that
had a band playing, or the situation would've been quite the
opposite, as the upper floor also had instruments and a small stage.
Bhavan
knew that Beate had a fondness for seafood as her favourite dish was
a good old fish and chipsof the kind most townies preferred to get
from the fast food truck by "The Century Fish" at 3 in the
night. though this jazz club was a little bit fancier. Not as
exclusive as "The 1912", but still a just a little to high
class to serve fish and chips, so his best and only seafood option
would be two plates of sushi.
Or make that three, because Beate was hungry enough to ask the bartender to make another one for her before sitting down to eat..
Something which Bhavan felt he had to comment on after she had changed to slighly more comfortable clothing and walked over to the other side of the bar to finish the second plate, since they were a little pricey, and since he was the one paying..
..but when Bhavan asked her to come over to his house after the date, her thoughts again went to babies... She hadn't told him yet that she was pregnant, and she didn't think he had noticed either.. but she knew she had to tell him at one point... Bhavan of course only wanted to show her the jacuzzi he had just had installed...
...and was very happy when she agreed to follow him to his house.. but of course, why wouldn't she want to do that? :P
Once home at his house Bhavan had the lights down low, actually, he kept them all turned off and it wasn't to create a romantic mood.. It was just how he was used to it being sometimes, from growing up with a father teaching him the importance of being frugal in case of hard times..
Bhavan was a little concerned about his money spending lately, as building an entire new floor on his house didn't come cheap, and so the conversation in the car on the way home had turned to one of money and the future of his finances.. Beate was sure though that things looked bright for th.. for him, or so she said, as she tried to cheer him up and whisper some sweet words in his ear before they would make their moves towards the bedroom..
Well, that's what she hoped to do until something made her feel sick and she had to rush to the nearest bathroom again...
-------------
Kneeling with her face down in a porcelain bowl wasn't excactly an afrodisiac and so when she finally made it to the bedroom it felt more natural to just go to sleep after an already very long day..
..but tomorrow comes a new day, and maybe some time in the jacuzzi will help for the mood and her wellbeing... perhaps..
...but for now, as always, good night. ;)
