Chapter 10.3 - November 2023 - A disaster and a date (but not a disastrous date)

This chapter is exempt from public according to the Freedom of Information Act §21. ;)

 -----

It was the last day of November, and the last day of the autumn season – atleast on the calendar – and Bhavan had just finished building a second floor on his house because, after Beates visit to him last month, he wanted to have a jacuzzi... but had no good place to put it..
It wouldn't fit in his tiny bathroom, so the solution was obvious... build a new floor with a new bathroom just for the jacuzzi and an additional spare room, unfurnished and unpainted, that could be used as a bedroom or extra living room or..whatever should prove to be necessary some time in the future...

The town council had been nagging him to visit them at the town hall to pick up an honour trophy for having saved the lives of two sims as far back as during summer of last year (!), but Bhavan, not caring much for fame and attention had always postponed going there to pick it up..

..until he received a letter earlier this week that if he didn't pick it up by the end of the month, it would be destroyed.. Even if he didn't care to much for trophies, (ok, maybe just a little..) it would've been a shame for that to happen, so he might as well just head over there and pick it up before going to work...

-----

Being a fire fighter appears pretty relaxed most of the time, especially when you can spend your workday only talking about your job instead of actually doing anything.. as Bhavans coworkers appeared to do while he was doing the necessary maintenance on the fire truck..

..but Bhavan need not worry, because there will be more than enough of opportunities to do nothing worthwile and socialize (read: be pestered by) your coworkers too after all the necessary work is done..

Bhavan loves his job as a fire fighter, but to many people makes him uncomfortable, so he walks back upstairs to finish the job of upgrading the toilet and get some alone time inside the toilet stall upstairs...

A moment of peace and relative quiet until...

It better not be a false alarm this time, but every time the bell rings it has to be taken seriously, because it could actually be an emergency...

Superman may have used a phone booth, but all our hero needs is a toilet stall! ;)

There's an emergency over at the military base, and there's no time to waste or use to drive carefully around the corners!

A 120 mm mortar round had exploded during an inspection by technical personnel, causing a fire that threatened to blow up the entire military base should it spread to the nearby weapons storage! If Bhavan didn't succeed in aiding the military in putting out this fire, there would be no more military base in town for a while....

This required swift and focused action to avert the terrible disaster about to happen! The fire had in the meantime managed to spread to the equipment and clothes depot setting all of their uniforms and stars and stripes on fire! Bhavan had to let uniforms be uniforms for a while as he focused on controlling the fire near the source (and right next to the weapons depot!), before putting out the fire in what was left of the uniforms..

It took the entire rest of the afternoon, but eventually Bhavan, with the aid of the soldiers managed to put out the fire and the military base was saved.. They would need to place a pretty big order on new equipment and uniforms for their soldiers and recruits, and six soldiers were injured directly in the explosion and would need medical care for a while, but that was a small concern compared to how this could have ended... Congratulations on a job well done! ;)

Time to return safely to the fire station for a debriefing.. of course a paparazzi had already managed to sniff out that something had been burning and was already running as fast as she could to the fire station hoping to get pictures and an interview with the local hero...

The military base would later issue a public press release where they claimed the incident was due to a flock of llamas that somehow had made it into their building and started wreaking havoc.... an explanation nobody really believed, but atleast they tried...

The paparazzi gazed after Bhavan as he walked by, but Bhavan was to busy – and absolutely not intereted – in talking to her. It was much more important for him to head upstairs and take a shower to wash of all the sweat and soot from the fire...

Sofia however was much more excited that a paparazzi was present at the fire station, and though she hadn't been brave this time to save the military base, she wasn't shy to walk over to the paparazzi and brag about her belongings.. but that only bored the paparazzi. She wanted to talk to the hero... not some random bragger desperate to impress...

"Stupid paparazzi.. why won't she listen to me? Why won't anyone listen to me? I'm important too...."

After getting a good long warm shower and talking about the weather with Ali who just happened to follow him there, Bhavan called up his girlfriend to take her out on a date to "Dafooney! Wahey!", the local jazz club, because he knew it was her favourite place in town..

Time to change into something a little fancier and head there quickly. ;)

The jazz club wasn't to far away from the fire station, it was just diagonally across the street, seen in the background here from Sofia and Bjørg who had gone out in the yard to throw ball again..

The club was pretty crowded for a thursday night. It looked like this was the place to be for everyone, except Bhavan.. it was a little to crowded for him, so he chose to wait outside on the sidewalk for Beate to arrive..

There was noone on the poster to provide entertainment for the night, but it was a jazz club and Bhavans sister Nitya had gone there to get some feedback from the crowd on her guitar playing. Even Kajsa Tangstad, the drummer from 'The Bushweeds' had jazzed herself up for the night to spend some time there, listening to music, having a few drinks and conversing about avant garde music and art that wasn't directly made to appeal to the masses...

Of course Bhavan didn't get to spend his time outside waiting alone as there were a few that spotted his presence from inside, such as Sol Skurchk, who wanted to approach him to share some gossip..

Beate hadn't yet heard the news about the latest incident at the military base, but was still fascinated by his job as a fire fighter..

She enthuses about it with him for a while before she quickly has to dart off to find the nearest bathroom. Bhavan, who isn't to keen on hanging out in the bar downstairs with all the other people, tells her to meet him afterwards in the bar upstairs where it, hopefully, will be a little quieter...

He could breathe easily, because there wasn't a single soul up there except the bartender. Luckily this wasn't one of the jazz nights that had a band playing, or the situation would've been quite the opposite, as the upper floor also had instruments and a small stage.

Bhavan knew that Beate had a fondness for seafood as her favourite dish was a good old fish and chipsof the kind most townies preferred to get from the fast food truck by "The Century Fish" at 3 in the night. though this jazz club was a little bit fancier. Not as exclusive as "The 1912", but still a just a little to high class to serve fish and chips, so his best and only seafood option would be two plates of sushi.

Or make that three, because Beate was hungry enough to ask the bartender to make another one for her before sitting down to eat..

Something which Bhavan felt he had to comment on after she had changed to slighly more comfortable clothing and walked over to the other side of the bar to finish the second plate, since they were a little pricey, and since he was the one paying..

After eating she could picture herself playing on the grand piano on stage there one of these days, maybe even holding her own concert with songs that she wrote to a full house, and truely starting the journey to make a name for herself.. one of these days..

..but when Bhavan asked her to come over to his house after the date, her thoughts again went to babies... She hadn't told him yet that she was pregnant, and she didn't think he had noticed either.. but she knew she had to tell him at one point... Bhavan of course only wanted to show her the jacuzzi he had just had installed...

...and was very happy when she agreed to follow him to his house.. but of course, why wouldn't she want to do that? :P

Once home at his house Bhavan had the lights down low, actually, he kept them all turned off and it wasn't to create a romantic mood.. It was just how he was used to it being sometimes, from growing up with a father teaching him the importance of being frugal in case of hard times..

Bhavan was a little concerned about his money spending lately, as building an entire new floor on his house didn't come cheap, and so the conversation in the car on the way home had turned to one of money and the future of his finances.. Beate was sure though that things looked bright for th.. for him, or so she said, as she tried to cheer him up and whisper some sweet words in his ear before they would make their moves towards the bedroom..

Well, that's what she hoped to do until something made her feel sick and she had to rush to the nearest bathroom again...

-------------

Kneeling with her face down in a porcelain bowl wasn't excactly an afrodisiac and so when she finally made it to the bedroom it felt more natural to just go to sleep after an already very long day..

..but tomorrow comes a new day, and maybe some time in the jacuzzi will help for the mood and her wellbeing... perhaps..

...but for now, as always, good night. ;)

Chapter 10.2 – October 2023 - Evening Waltz.

October came as it often does in this town, with heavy rains hammering down non-stop, making everything look grey, dull and.. wet.. as people hurried as quickly as they could from point A to point B in their rain coats and under their umbrellas, only taking time for a quick "Hello" as they passed each other by...

Atleast for a while, until the weather cleared up and the sun popped out again, making it possible to stay outside for longer than 15 seconds without getting soaked... and this day appeared to be one of those beautiful days..

Bhavan wanted to make the best of it and called up his girlfriend to hang out for a while in the park before
going to work...

Bhavan just wanted to hang out and chill there for a while, but Beate appeared super excited this morning about his job as a fire fighter, so he had no choice he thought, but to take her with him to the fire station...  ;)

Since the weather was so fine this morning the fire station was just a quick runners distance away, and there was no need to pollute the environment more than necessary by going by car..

After a quick and simple lunch Beate decided to entertain the fire fighters by playing the piano, which appeared to be a good idea, making the the fire fighters enjoy the day and making the environment pleasant and relaxed...

Beate is just one of many creatives in this coastal town, hoping one day to make it as a succesful artist. Jamming with others is of course fun, but so far Beate aspires to break through as a solo artist, maybe as a warm, but also slightly mysterious soul or jazz singer..

The chatter and gossip was lively among the colleagues as she played, until the quarreler among them had to ruin the mood..

Vemund was jealous of Bhavan always getting his spot in the sunshine, whereas he always had to make do with standing in his shadow – even if Bhavan never cared for his position, and would gladly have given it away to Vemund if he could.. but that would require Vemund to learn a pretty basic skill in 'charisma' – to not constantly try to start fights with pretty much everyone around you...

Bhavan thought it was enough of that nonsense and wanted to spend the rest of his day by himself and doing something useful around there until his workday was done..

..while his girlfriend spent the entire day entertaining by the piano, much to the amusent (and welcome distraction) for atleast Bjørg and Sofia. ;)

At the end of the workday the sun was gone and it had started to rain again, so instead of taking her to the park (or anywhere else outside) again, he invited her to his house for dinner. A restaurant would be much to crowded for him, not to mention the risk of getting recognized and not left alone by the usual line of people wanting to get their piece of him... dinner at home in peace and quiet was a much better option..

Let's go. ;)

..and speaking of options, the narrator thinks it would be a much better choice for her to move in with her boyfriend in this house that he lives in, instead of still living with her parents in her old child bedroom.... but I'm not going to push the matter to much, I'm just saying it... ;)

There is hope maybe, because it looks like she's finding herself a little bit at home as she goes to take out the trash while he's inside cooking.. sharing house chores already, maybe.. :P

Dinner is served, please have a seat madam... Bhavan is far from an excellent cook yet, so the best thing he could make for his girflriend was a simple mac and cheese, however that doesn't appear to spoil the mood.

Bhavan isn't very talkative, he never really has been, so it's on Beate to start the conversation by starting to talk about a new song she just listened too by some jazz band that she was sure Bhavan had never heard of.. even though he had, he just didn't tell her to leave her with the feeling of being the musical connoisseur she thought she was. ;)

Then brash as she sometimes is, she jumped straight to the next topic and suggested they should have some fun and make a baby...

Bhavan, who had just finished eating because he had focused more on it, than on talking, once more said nothing as he got up from his chair to walk over to the kitchen benches to do the dishes and put the leftovers in the refridgerator...

Beate, after doing the dishes and splashing water on herself, has to stop for a moment and chuckle to herself while thinking about how she heard Marianne Skurchkh died while working out earlier this year.. pretty safe to say that Beate isn't really a mourning person, but more the kind that would need a good coffin to start the day....

Ah yes.. nothing lift ones spirits and set one in the mood for a little romance like cracking a few jokes to oneself about funerals and death and stuff... Bhavan was more in the mood for hiring a butler to take care of the more homely tasks...

Beate had a different goal in mind.. this man was just so alluring, he didn't really need to much but simply exist to push all of her buttons and turn her on...

She indeed felt lucky to have captured the heart of this man that everyone else more or less secretly wanted to do a little tango in the hay with too.... but she had to promise him they would be doing it the safe way, and that there would be no babies...

"No babies..." she whispered to herself as she followed him to the bedroom...

..before undressing and putting on her cute little bunny slippers. ;)

"Just imagine the most sensual of jazz tunes playing, while I guide you through this little evening waltz...."

Oh I want you, I want you, I want you
On a chair with a dead magazine
In the cave at the tip of the lily
In some hallways where love's never been
On a bed where the moon has been sweating
In a cry filled with footsteps and sand

-'Take this waltz', Leonard Cohen

Then it was time for relaxing on the bed.. atleast for Bhavan. Beate was now satisfied, and felt her mission was complete, and so with great pride she decided to stride on out of the bedroom to go back home to her mommy and daddys house again...

She already had a baby crib in her old kiddie bedroom and now she knew that in nine months time it would be useful again.. and, unless something happened in the meantime, Bhavan would have to cash out for his monthly child support!

Really, young miss? I must say.. this, err... this isn't what I hoped for just yet. You're doing things in the wrong order! If you ask me....

..and Bhavan, still in the dark about the trick she just played on him, and perhaps wondering about why she's behaving so oddly by leaving already after their little bedroom dance, returns to his usual evening routine of playing a little guitar to himself next to an unlit fire place before going to sleep... in his bed, alone...

Oh well, good night...

She had thought this moment through several times in her head, though this wasn't quite what she had imagined... they were outside, it ...
